Family Night at Chilis

It has been a long time since we have been out to a nice dinner as a family. We used to go a lot, but living with my parents, it is easier to just stay home. Well Trevor finally got a job, as mentioned in the previous post, and at said job, they give him gift cards sometimes when goals are met. Well, last night, he had a gift card to Chili's. I love Chili's, Trevor not so much. We decided that we would take the kids with us this time so that we didn't have to wait for my mom and Lance to get home from the gym to go on a date. It is an adventure to take a 6 year old and a 3 year old out to eat, but since being at my mom's, they have both become more willing to try new things, and they are both trying to learn to behave.

I decided that I wanted to share a starter with Trevor, and the one that we agreed on was onion strings, sort of like onion rings that aren't in rings, with jalapeno slices, also fried. it came with a side of ranch, and Caitlynn has an obsession with ranch dressing. She decided that she liked the onion strings, so Andruw thought that he would taste them. Then, Caity picked up a jalapeno and said "What is this one?" Trevor asked her if she would like to try the pepper and found her one without seeds. She liked it until the spice kicked in. This was her face:

Andruw was more afraid to try them after seeing Caitlynn's face, but we told him he didn't have to that was fine. We sat there eating more onion strings, and all the sudden Andruw was like, "I wanna try this." We gave him a small slice with no seeds just like we did for Caitlynn, and he loved it. He asked for another, and we gave him a little bit bigger of one. He said, "I am gonna have a medium one now" after finishing the second, and grabbed his own and dipped in the ranch, then stuck it in his mouth. I am sure that it had seeds, because we weren't able to see it first, and this is what his face looked like:

Notice that his eyes are red and he looks like he is going to cry, right. Well he asked to have more later, but we had what was left taken away when our main course came.
Who knew that my babies would be so brave! I am very proud of them this day!

Happy Birthday Trevor

Well, yesterday was a milestone for Trevor. He turned 30. We celebrated last weekend by going on a date to Texas Roadhouse. but last night, Caity and Andruw made him brownies and drew pictures of what they like the most about their dad. It was fun.

Probably the best present that Trevor got this year was a new job. FINALLY. He started at Autoliv in Ogden through the staffing service SOS. It is funny to think that this is exactly what he did when we got married 8 1/2 years ago, but he is happy to have a job. I don't blame him really, it is boring to stay home.

Caitlynn started going to a daycare/preschool this week, and she loves it. She has been singing the ABC's and Mary Had a Little Lamb nonstop now, and she keeps telling me, "Mom, I made lots of boy friends, and girl friends. But more girl friends." She is excited to go every morning, and sad to leave every afternoon, so this must be a great place for her.

Time flies when your life is a mess!

So here is November! I know, much to long, right?! Sorry! Here is a brief catch up to what our lives are.

Mid July, Trevor lost his job at Sysco. In this economy, it is hard because he is still having trouble finding something, even through temporary staffing agencies. Labor day weekend, we moved out of our apartment in West Jordan and moved to my mom's in Clinton. It is good and bad, fun and hard.

I am still at Davinci, and hope to be for a long time. I was a little worried through October when I missed 5 1/2 days, but apparently I am needed/loved. :)

There may be some major changes coming in our lives soon, I can feel it..so stay coming back. I am going to get better at posting!

Just another day...

Well, it has been more than a day really. I am having a hard time dealing with..everything..lately, so I don't take the time that I really should to post things. I know that is poor, but I will live.

Soo..here is the catch up. Last weekend was the 4th of July and we had a blast! Friday we went to Logan and spent the afternoon catching up with my Grandparents, then we went to the Logan Fireworks at USU. We got to sit in the observitory, and it was AWESOME! We were so close, that I totally got hit in the face with some ash during the finale! After the fireworks, we drove to Bear Lake and stayed the rest of the weekend at Ideal Beach. It was loads of fun! Thanks to Kris for having such an awesome job!!!!!

This week was pretty much nuts at work and flew by! I am sure that someday I will remember how it felt, but right now..nothing.

Monday was notible though. My sister Tara got married to her long time companion, Jason. I am very happy for them, as they are very happy! She was beautiful, and it was simply sweet just like I am sure she wanted. A good time was had by all... :)

This weekend we are missing Andruw, but we are at my mom's hoping that Caity will get some attention from someone else! She misses him very much and we can't wait until next weekend when he gets home! Loves buddy!!!

I apologize for the wait!

I know that it has been a long time since I wrote anything. I was just not feeling the awesomeness that is me. Caitlynn has been home for just over a week now and she still tells me, "I missed you mommy!" every time I walk in the door. I missed her too, but I am not still thinking about missing her. I am hoping that she will find it in her to calm down a notch and stop hanging on me!

Andruw is almost done with kindergarten. Just 2 days left! I am sad, happy, excited, and unsure all at the same time. I know that he is going to love first grade, and I know that Trevor is going to love having him go to school for a full day rather than only a half day! Now if we could move to a place with a traditional calander school, that would be great. I don't like year round school most of the time, but hey! What can I do about it?

There isn't really anything wild, fun and crazy for me to talk about, but we are hoping to go to Bear Lake with Trevor's family this weekend. That will be fun!

A whole lot of nothing

So, there isn't really a lot to say today. We went to Lava this weekend. It was rainy and 60 degrees. We played in the water and now we are sick. But, it was so much fun and so worth it.

We have to spend more money than we have to fix my car...again..but hey, I have a car.

I miss Caitlynn while she is with Trevor's mom, but I am enjoying my quiet time.

How is that for keeping positive?

Westvale is the Fox 13 Cool School of the Week

Today Andruw's school was on tv. He got to sing Three Cheers for the Red White and Blue with his class on the news and meet Big Budah. He was so excited to go..doesn't he just look handsome?
Trevor sent me the pictures to make sure that I approved of what he was wearing. Of course, I think that he looks fantastic. I can't make the video fit here, but here is the link to the Fox 13 site where the video is: http://www.fox13now.com/video/?autoStart=true&topVideoCatNo=default&clipId=3852456

Andruw is on the front row. And yes, that is his teacher, Mrs. Krogue.

The Rains Came Down

We had an amazing down pour here in West Jordan this evening. When I got home at work today at 6 the sidewalk and road were dry, but at 6:30, it looked like this. It is hard to see, but there is about 2 to 3 inches of water running through our parking lot. All of this water came within 5 minutes. And it was just pouring our of the sky.
There was a lake in our flower bed with a Mountain Dew boat floating. I guess I don't have to water the flowers today, right?
The best part was watching it pour off the building and land in the spot that NEVER gets rained on. This corner of the flower bed is always dry..the flowers are dying because I can't keep it moist enough.

That is what spring is about I guess.

It is another Monday

Today was just another Monday at our house. Work, school, chores, and family time. Today the only thing out of the ordinary is that we are packing for Caitlynn to go stay with Grandma Atkinson. She will be leaving in the morning and will be home on the 18th. The fun part for Andruw is that he will be out of school most of the time that she is gone because of Kindergarten testing.

I put the kids to bed tonight with Finding Nemo hoping that would keep them in bed, and so far seems to be working. Thank you Disney, for the mommy time.

Sunday at the park

Even though the day started out raining, we went to the park. We have a park near us here in West Jordan that is so fun for the kids. It is hard for the parents, because there are big kids and we can't always see our babies, but it is fun for them.

We had a little birthday picnic with KFC and watermelon. I love watermelon and tomatoes. I think that Marla picks some of the best produce ever. Maybe that is why I ate well when we lived with them, I don't know. As I sit here dripping leftover watermelon down my tummy, I am at peace.

So today we went to church. It is hard for Caitlynn to be quiet for any amount of time, but it seems like sacrament meeting raises her volume 10 decibels. So, the sacrament prayer starts and we tell her to fold her arms for the prayer and she starts praying. "Heavenly Father, thank you for the crayon colors, and for my mom and dad, and my mommy..." it was pretty cute.

Now I am looking forward to the long week ahead!

Saturday is a..busy...day

As I sat waiting for my Chinese takeout to be ready because I didn't get anything out for dinner, I thought back on what we had done today, and I am proud. It has been a really long time since we cleaned our whole house in one day. Trevor wants a puppy really bad, so I told him that puppies eat EVERYTHING, so he would need to clean under the bed and stuff so that we could get one. Of course, we are not getting a puppy this weekend or anything, but you have to prove that you can do it before you can have one, right.

We are still taking care of the flowers hoping to win the money, but it is so hot that they are kinda wilting. I am a bit worried that they will die before the judging, but at least we can plant more up until the day of the judging. It is funny that I am talking about my flowers..I just decided that.

Anyway, I read a novel today as well. I love to read, so it was nice to just veg and read for a while. It was one of the first times in a while that I was glad that Marla didn't plan her time very well and wasn't able to keep the plans with us. Except the part where the kids were very whiney and Trevor went to sleep of course.

There are not really any plans for tonight, just putting the kids to bed and maybe watching a movie with Trevor, but hey! It is all good!

Life comes at you fast

I have been so crazy busy the last few days that I haven't taken the time to post anything. It isn't that there hasn't been anything worthy of the posting, because I am sure that I could think of something entertaining daily.

So, here is the thing. We are getting ready to send Caitlynn to Blanding again. It is going to be sad, but fun. She will be there for just under 2 weeks. That is a long time in mommy years.

Before she leaves, we are supposed to spend the weekend spending time with Marla and Ron. There are plans for a possible picnic and other such fun. I am hoping that it stays overcast too because I hate the hot. I have decided that I like spring and fall. I hate snow..so winter is out. I hate being hot..so summer is out.

Anyway, we planted a flower bed for a contest in our apartment complex. The winner gets a $500 prize. The money comes off of July's rent, but hey, that is as good as cash right? Second place is $300 and third is $200. Either way, I think that it would be awesome, but of course I would LOVE to win first place.

Well, I am hoping to be able to spend some time posting this weekend, but if not, I am sure that I will be posting the weekend update Monday.

The Mullet

Caitlynn has always had long, beautiful, curly hair. Until last week that is! She decided to cut 4 to 5 inches off the entire top layer of her hair with some spots being even closer to her head than that.
If you look at the picture, you too would think that she looks like Joe Dirt. It isn't really a mullet, but it looks like it. Every kids cuts there own hair at one time or another, and I did it to myself and others several times when I was little, but that still doesn't make it any less of an event for us. Thanks to a good friend and some luck, we were able to get her a cute hair cut that disguises the few spots that are only about a half of an inch long.

Caitlynn says that she has learned her lesson and that she will not cut her own hair ever again, but we will see, won't we!

A Long Weekend

Well, here it is. My eighth wedding anniversary. It wasn't easy, getting here, but we did it. I am not sure that making it through the weekend was any easier...

Friday was fun. My mom and Lance took the kids overnight so that Trevor and I could go on a date. We went to Famous Dave's. It was so yummy. We then went to Old Navy and got me a new pair of flip flops for my present. It is funny that he hates when I wear them, but that is what he wants to buy me for a gift. We rented a movie from Redbox and went home to watch it. Pretty much a cheap, but fun date.

Saturday, we got up and did some cleaning, then headed up to my mom's to relieve her. They were just hanging out, having lunch when we got there, and Andruw had been hanging out with the neighbor boy, Gabe. I am not sure what it is about kids, but they are not nice to each other at all, but they want to play together, and insist that they are friends. I don't think that I would like it if my friend said that I couldn't do something because I am an idiot, but hey, apparently that is the way that they roll.

Sunday was awesome! We went up to Logan to my grandma's, and had a good time playing games and eating yummy food. Shane and Sandra also found a video from 1987..good times :)! It was neat because that is before I was in that family, and I got to see things that I may have missed out on forever, like seeing Grandpa Rockwood. Also, Caitlynn decided that she would talk the entire hour there, and the entire hour home, and this caused my mom and Lance to get into a fight because Lance was irritated.

Yesterday was mostly a lazy day. We played some games, and then came home, and Trevor had to go back to work. He didn't want to go back at all, much like it was hard for me to come back today.

Lazy Times

Tuesdays are my "day for me". I watch all my favorite shows and just sit around. Well yesterday was expecially lazy. I didn't even want to get up to find the remote to change the channel to the shows that I like. Instead I watched 4 hours of House. I have never watched it before, and I have to say that it isn't half bad.

Caitlynn painted herself with my makeup today. When she was done with her punishment, Trevor asked "Are you ever going to do that again?" and she answered, "Uh huh" while she nodded her head. Kids really do say the darndest things.

Work was okay, but I am missing the sparkle lately. I just don't feel the happiness of it. Funny because most people don't even get to be lucky to like what they are doing, and I love my job.

Oh, and I am never making homemade Mac and Cheese again! It was NASTY!!!!

Monday, Sweet Monday

So, today was..Monday. I spent the day at work, trying to get through all the tasks that I have, and still have time to answer phone calls. Don't get me wrong, I love my job. It is just very busy on Monday's.

I wasn't sure what I was going to find when I got home because usually it is a tornado and/or hurricane. What I found was a living room that had been picked up, dinner in the oven, and my kids room was SPOTLESS! I am sure that aliens have kidnapped the family, but I will take it!

I was so proud of Andruw because he did that all for me. He was just beaming, waiting to tell me that he had cleaned his room all by himself. He is such a good boy most of the time!

Caitlynn wanted to make her mark on my day too, so she put on the last of my face lotion and then clogged the bathroom sink with toilet paper. What a little pill. She also got in my closet and pulled out the space bag with her baby blankets in there and got her "flower softy" out. She is going to be like me with my "wooby".

Welcome to Our Life!

As the 8th anniversary of our family looms over us, we are reflecting on the things that have happened to us, both good and bad. We have had a lot of good times, and a lot of crazy times, and a lot of bad times.

I am not going to take all the time in the world to relive all the times now, but start to document the times in the future.

This weekend was fun! We were planning a Friday night at home watching the series finale of Prison Break, but the power went out! In true "adventurer" style, we went to Walmart to get flashlights, and went home and sent the kids on a "camp out" in their room. We just sat there until the power came back on after that. I talked to Katie on MSN from my phone and read my book, but the whole time, Trevor was trying to talk to me. The power came back on around 11:30-11:45 and we watched what recorded of Prison Break before the power went off, then I went to sleep while Trevor spent the rest of the night watching movies and plotting out the great fishing adventure he wanted to go on Saturday.

Saturday morning, we were going to clean our house, but Trevor woke me up and said that he was ready to go up to Clinton so that he and Andruw could go fishing. We drove up to my mom's and while Trevor and Lance finished constructing the awesome new swingset, Caitlynn and Andruw played in the water, and my mom and I went to Walmart to get a present for the neighbor boy that was having a birthday party later that afternoon. After the party, Caitlynn and I went to Tremonton to spend time with my dad, and then to go to Katie's going away party at Pizza Plus. It was fun for us to have "girl" time, and we had too much to eat! Trevor fell asleep and Andruw played video games, so there was no fishing trip, but no one seems to worried about that.

The rest of the weekend was spent playing cards with the parents, but isn't almost every weekend? We came home last night and I got a little laundry and cleaning done, but it looks like the rest is left for today!
